百老汇经典音乐剧《吻我，凯特》（Kiss Me, Kate）由美国国宝级作曲家科尔·波特（Cole Porter）作曲和作词，塞缪尔和贝拉·斯佩瓦克（Samuel and Bella Spewack）撰写剧本，于1948年底在纽约首演并大获成功。

《吻我，凯特》的灵感源自莎士比亚杰作《驯悍记》：一家剧院公司正在准备上演《驯悍记》，导演弗雷德·格雷厄姆和他的前妻莉莉·瓦内西在剧中出演彼得鲁乔和凯瑟琳娜，恰似他们生活中的写照。随着演出的临近，两人重燃爱火，但也有新的困扰。戏中戏的结构为观众提供了一个关于爱情、争吵和和解的新视角，复杂而不乏幽默。
